Behind The Wheel.
My name is Gary Bisset and I am a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor. As the introduction states I've been behind the wheel of a vehicle of some shape or form since leaving school.
Passing my first driving test just after turning seventeen, I was lucky to land my first van driving job soon after.
A little older than eighteen, I moved to Holland and continued my driving career in a warehouse allowing me access to a van and soon after a van driving job.
Learning the language and studying for a heavy goods license was next on the agenda. Along with marriage, kids and life at 23/24, a very hard worked for HGV license was obtained.
Lorry driving was for me. First 7.5 ton lorries for a while and then almost from one day to the next, a change over to articulated 9 car double decker car transporters. Boy was I a happy chappy!
Long while after and a return back to Scotland puts me in a position to start international haulage before I headed into coach/bus driving including Scottish Highland Coach tours and then eventually to becoming a driving instructor.
Why do I tell you all this?
I have told you a bit about me because I feel it is important to know not only that your driving instructor is qualified but also about what motivates them to do their job.
You will have gathered that I have:
a) always been mad crack daft on driving
b) I have never forgotten the feeling of utter independence, freedom and achievement passing those driving tests gave me. Getting out onto that big, open road was for me my dream come true.
For me, my job satisfaction comes from continually striving for every one of my pupils to experience that same sense of achievement and freedom.
